ABOUT CFI
CFI was set up in the year 2000 by the leading heavy civil engineering construction firms of India as a forum to strive for bringing about all-round improvements in the sector apart from aiming at long-standing problems.
CFI is the representative body of leading infrastructure construction firms of the country with a motto “of the industry, by the industry and for the industry”.
Since its inception, CFI has been instrumental in identifying issues which have a detrimental impact on the industry and on the project implementation process while advocating appropriate changes in laws, taxation policies, rules & regulations at the Central and State levels for tuning them with the needs.
• Key flagship events / initiatives:
CFI was the Convenor to form the Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDCI) under the NSDC
Convinced GST Council, GST Law Committee to consider 6% reduction in GST rate on Works Contract Services provided by Contractor to Sub-Contractor for Govt. Projects.
Dialogue with concerned ministries resulted in release of long-pending claims
CFI discussed with MCA, DEA to consider exemptions for Infrastructure Investment Trusts (INVITs) from acceptance of deposit norms.
• Annual Industrial growth in past 5 years:
According to CSO estimates, Construction sector is expected to grow by 3.6 % during 2017-18 as compared to 1.7% in 2016-17. Sector registered growth rate of 5% in 2015-16 and 4.7% in 2014-15.
