About ASPA
Established in 1968, the Association represents producers of Alloy & Special Steels, including stainless steel, in the country. The Association widely represents the domestic Alloy Steel Industry
ASPA seeks to promote common interests of alloy and special steel manufacturers in India.
* ASPA continuously interacts with Government of India’s relevant ministries, mainly Steel, Commerce and Finance on policies and procedures that affect alloy steel industry.
* ASPA member-company representatives meet amongst themselves at regular intervals for exchange of views on issues affecting the industry.
* ASPA interacts periodically with its principal customers organisation such ACMA (Automotive Components Manufacturers of India) and SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers).
About Industry
Alloy steel is distinct from carbon steel manufactured by large-scale, integrated steelmakers in terms of production process, technology and marketing parameters. The existing capacity of Alloy steel manufacturers is estimated around 10 Million Tonnes in the country.
Though alloy and special steel sector constitutes only about 8-9% of the total steel production, it accounts for nearly 20% in value terms as it produces value added steel products.
Alloy steel industry manufactures a wide range of engineered steel products to meet the requirements of critical applications in highly specialised and quality conscious industries such as Automobile, Auto components, Engineering and Defence sectors.
The industry is domestic market driven with CAGR of 9.2% in last seven years. The alloy steel production has gone up from 3.5 million tonnes in FY2010 to 6.5 million tonne in FY2017.
About Members
The Association comprises members from Large, Medium and Small Scale Sector. Total Members are 25. Few of our esteemed members are SAIL, JSW Steel, JSPL, Mukand, Kalyani, Usha Martin, Sunflag etc. The Association members contribute about 90% of total Alloy Steel Production in the country.
